Who We Are

Chair: Dr Zoe Hollowood

Zoe has been a party member for several years. She sits on Lib Dem Federal Council, English Council and the Food and Farming Policy Group. She is also a PhD scientist and works for a Medical Charity in addition to freelance consulting.

Vice Chair: Cllr Alison Jenner

Alison is a dedicated party member, having joined the Liberal party in 1979 and become a parish cllr in 1983. She currently sits on Federal Conference Committee and Federal Council and is a district councillor in OxWAb..

Secretary: Emma Talbot

Emma has been a party member since 1998. She is Treasurer and Election Agent for Tendring district Lib Dems, and is a member of the English Council. She is also a Chartered insurer working in London reinsurance market.

Hon. President: Baroness Sarah Ludford

Since 1997 Baroness Sarah Ludford has been a Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords, where she is currently the party’s Lords Europe Spokesperson. She was a Member of the European Parliament (MEP) for London from 1999 to 2014, working mainly on EU security, justice and human rights issues and on EU foreign affairs including as vice-chair of the European Parliament delegation to the US. 

A qualified barrister, before politics Sarah worked in Whitehall, in the European Commission and in the City for Lloyd’s of London and American Express. Sarah was a local councillor for 8 years during the 1990s in the London Borough of Islington. She is a Vice-President of Liberal Democrat Friends of Israel.

Hon. Vice President: Baroness Dorothy Thornhill

Since 2015 Baroness Dorothy Thornhill has been a Liberal Democrat member of the House of Lords, where she is currently the party’s Lords Spokesperson on Housing. She was the UK’s first female directly elected mayor, serving as Mayor for Watford Borough Council from 2002 until 2018. Prior to this she was a district councillor for ten years. Dorothy led the party's internal review into its performance in the 2019 General Election, which was published in May 2020.

Before her political career, Dorothy was a teacher in a career spanning over 25 years, and worked in Bushey as an Assistant Head in the latter part of her career.

Freedom of conscience, belief and speech is a fundamental human right and an essential liberal principle. We will always defend this principle and along with it, women’s right to speak and organise free from harassment, threats or coercion.
